This week gave me a chance to draw from Greek mythology, which I love to do! Here's Poseidon, Greek god of the sea, riding on a charging hippocamp. The original drawing was pen and ink on smooth paper. I was experimenting with different line weights to create different tones without using crosshatching. Then I colorized it and added the background in Photoshop.
"Poseidon" is available as an art print and more in my shop
here.
This is so great! I don't know why, but this really draws me in. I'm not usually a big art person, but your work is amazing.

ReplyDeletewow beautiful, So rich in detail... love it.
ReplyDeleteThis energetic image grabbed my attention on the Illustration Friday site. It expertly balances rich detail and craftsmanship with an impactful composition.
ReplyDeletePowerful image!!! LOVE the linework! I was always a huge Greek mythology fan in middle school, & Poseidon was my favorite, so this really resonates with me! And it looks like you can use it for this week's challenge, too! They read your mind!! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm probably repeating myself, but your drawings have such a cohesiveness because of the way that you use line and shape. (A former art teacher of mine was always harping that a drawing needs "gestalt" and yours do!)I love the way that you've used the curling shape in everything from the wave to Poseidon's kneecap!
