This week's prompt gave me a perfect reason to complete my "1920s girl" project! The sketch, which was posted on this blog a while back, seems like it's been sitting around forever. I wanted the image to be soft but still have lines and edges, and black and white but still with color. So I decided to use colored pencils, which worked perfectly I think.
this is so beautiful. your image is exactly how you wanted it. "soft, but with lines & edges. b/w, but with a hint of color. just beautiful!!

Beautiful! Great work!
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect solution for this week's challenge! She is beautiful. Her hair looks positively luminous, which is an accomplishment in a monochromatic piece!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful :) I love how you did the hair! I'm so glad I found your blog, your style is great :D
ReplyDeleteThis is so very lovely. Did you use ink at all, or is it just pencils? I ask because the darkest lines are so rich.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Carin! It is just pencils, but my scan was dull so I used one of the auto-filters in Photoshop (auto-tone, I think) and then brightened it a bit. But the pencils were Berol Verithin black and Prismacolor black and peach, not graphite, because I wanted a darker black than graphite would have been.
DeleteThanks for letting me know the specifics. I really admire your facility with line--the way all of these precise and perfect lines somehow add up to an organic and pleasing whole.
DeleteIt's so beautifully done. I'm jealous, and now I miss Downton Abbey.
